A good friend of mine has a saying that “if it were easy, everybody would be doing it.” The same is true for missional living. It sounds good and the Great Commission is compelling, especially since Jesus said it. But doing it, well, we all have our own interpretation of that. Truthfully, there isn’t anything easy about missional living. It will stretch you, test you and cost you something. But if you live as if nothing belongs to you to begin with it isn’t near as painful. This also takes out the “trying” so hard to live missionally. Jesus didn’t ask you to do something missional, he told you to be missional as you live. Which in turn means we can’t just watch everyone else do it. We have to do it right where we are.
