Apparently, we were nominated for an Epoch Award. http://epochawards.com/nominations/2013-nominations/ And apparently I didn’t believe it nor the extent of it. Regardless, after actually taking the time to look at this nomination, it is legit. First, I should say I am humbled by it. However secondly, when I look at what people are doing around the world through the love of Christ I don’t feel much like a hero at all. Heroes to me are those that give up everything to sacrifice for others. And quite frankly, I work with some amazing people who did just that. Gave up stable communities and steady incomes to pursue a passion for people. Our work is simple, “serve those who serve others.” We live in the entertainment capital of the world that is supported by an amazing Service Industry. My question was, “who’s serving them?” It wasn’t hard to find an example of why. Jesus modeled it for us through his incarnation. (Matthew 20:27-28) It just made sense that we should live an incarnational life too. So, several families moved to Orlando to do just that. Work among the people and live like Jesus. As such, a little missional community has been born that takes the Gospel into a niche community that has the potential to effect the world. Our hope is that it will be Epoch in a kingdom kind of way.
